new!

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

ha! New things in the Blythe horizon! About time too, after all the tacky releases lately.
This is a Middie Blythe, sized between a regular and a mini Blythe.
I can’t wait to see what people come up with, customizing them.

A photo diary of our experience at the Venice Film Festival was requested by LIFO magazine.
Who knew that in print, you have less censorship than online.

Petit train, où t’en vas-tu?

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

On the train to Milan, it felt like a Sunday afternoon when you still hadn’t done your homework for Monday.

Just across the water at the Excelsior Hotel, they shot Death in Venice 40 years ago. We took a moment to hear the echos of that time.

“Doll Snaps” book.

Monday, August 30th, 2010

The Doll Snaps book has just come out. It’s by Graphic-sha, the Japanese publishing house that also produces Dolly*Dolly magazine.

In 2008 I shot their cover for Dolly*Dolly17, which was huge fun. That issue also includes an 8 page pictorial of my old doll room, atelier and apartment. It holds a great deal of sentimental value for me, a time capsule from a much simpler, innocent time in my life. *cue music*

It was neat to be invited to contribute 20 photos to this project. It’s a cute book, definitely worth picking up. Many talented photographers are involved and a wide range of dolls is featured in dreamy settings; from Blythe to Mdvanii, to Kamar, to.. *gag* ..BJDs.

How interesting that they put an Edie next to a Twiggy, as they both of the same kind of .. um.. thing.

The photos have been mounted in an intelligent sequence, it definitely follows some sort of vague visual narrative.

Mary Collins graces the last page, in that photo where she’s taking off to to Paris. [Gawd, that photo was from way back in 2006.]

I don’t know if it’s available outside of Japan, you may inquire at info@graphicsha.co.jp

It’s about $30.

Same old tricks.

Wait.

Monday, August 30th, 2010

I ordered some Turkish tea while we were waiting for our ride to the airport and the waiter did stare but Mary had to come out of the bag.

The color of Mary’s eyes isn’t much different to Turkish tea.

Mary covers her head, as per Muslim tradition. Inside however, she’s a very modern girl, with her own facebook page, even.

so ok. what i absolutely love [obsess] about human hair, is that it’s changeable like the weather and the moods. Here she sits all curled and properly flipped, two days later however, humidity on the Bosphorus, made the curl looser and sexier. Look at the previous post. A++
Goddamned plastic hair don’t do that FOR YOU, MISSY. It don’t put on a show for you. Like human hair does.
