Elle magazine shoot today, for a Spring 2011 trends editorial, where I discovered that said trends are color-FULL. Got to work again with the wonderful Charlotte Tomaszewska.
Dyed some of the front pieces and added a customized wig.
After that, I grabbed Charlotte and we ran to a barber shop close by, where they let me wash her hair so I could start over. For the remaining of the shots, I added 22-inch-long European human hair extensions and played around with them.
Prepping for Elle magazine shoot. Spring-summer 2011 trends, they asked for colorful ideas.
Very excited to use my 1930s metal curlers to set this custom lace wig, after I dyed her pink. They are genius, because they continue to generate heat into the hair, long after you remove the wig from the dryer, giving a stronger hold.
My latest mohair wig lux set for Blythe.
Wig, wiglet, booklet with styling ideas, brush, hairpins and matching hairnet.
The wig is resting on a styrofoam wighead inside the 60s inspired box.
She can be styled in a million ways; curly, straight, pinned up, braided,
and by incorporating the matching wiglet, the options are endless!
So many hair types, each with it own distinct behavior and reaction to water, heat and products.
Each bundle came from a different person’s head, carrying the history of what they ate, how they felt, where they lived, the cocktail of their race mix.
Hair is a veritable biological cultural capsule of time and history.
I did the hair for the covers and the corresponding editorials in December Vogue and Votre Beaute, now on stands.

Vogue shoot. Got to work with the wonderful Charlotte Tomaszewska. She has very fine, beautifully damaged, very pliable bleached hair, the type I love to work with but for this editorial I wanted to turn her into a New England redhead. So I temporarily colored some of her front hair and added hair at the back.
