So many hair types, each with it own distinct behavior and reaction to water, heat and products.
Each bundle came from a different person’s head, carrying the history of what they ate, how they felt, where they lived, the cocktail of their race mix.

Elle magazine. The brief said old Hollywood. Worked with Charlotte again. Used one of my custom wigs on her, which I cut and set into a old school pattern.

Vogue shoot. Got to work with the wonderful Charlotte Tomaszewska. She has very fine, beautifully damaged, very pliable bleached hair, the type I love to work with but for this editorial I wanted to turn her into a New England redhead. Old Hollywood

Sunday, November 21st, 2010

I’m always vehemently researching the great old artists that worked at the movie studios from as early as 1915. Max Factor, Eddie Senz, Jack Pierce, Perc Westmore. The tools and techniques they came up with, are still what we use today.
Old Hollywood. *sigh*

hair for a thief

Saturday, November 20th, 2010

As usual, I got carried away and made the back more elaborate than needed. As it is, the camera never saw it. This was for the current issue of Vogue. The set was a late 50s Frank Loyd Wright kind of pad, which whispered “Marnie” to my ear.

One of the outfits was Filep’s, the same one I had done a few weeks ago.
